Title:
The Look

The Horror

Posted on Thu 11th May, 2006, 6:46pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/200, Aperture: f/2.8,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: Square,
Lens: Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Focal length: 100mm,
Captured: 6th May 2006, 5:52pm,

This is the last of the shots I took in Brighton last weekend, for the moment anyway.

I wasn't going to use it on the blog but when I took it into photoshop for a play, I started to like how it was looking. Nevertheless I still processed it fairly quickly and certainly didn't do any dodging or burning. I don't think it really matters with this one.

Who's advice on posting it did you ask? Huh? HUH? Bet everyone loves it like I do. Just something about his expression, think he sums up "What in the name of chuff is that freak taking a picture of me for?" very well.

Jamey, Thu 11th May, 2006, 7:14pm
I'd just like to clarify that Jim convinced me to post this... Oh, hi Jim.

A great pic there. He looks like a cross between Rolf Harris and Garry Glitter....love his expression :)

How did he react after the shot? He looks like he's going to lose it.

Jamey, Thu 11th May, 2006, 9:01pm
He walked off down the road and then came back. I thought he was gonna start having a go at me but he just went into the cafe behind me and that was the last time I saw him.

Great focus on his face Jamey and an expression to die for, I also like the text in the background it works with the character in it.

Excellent facials, did he come over and slap you after? heh :)

I reckon he's just seen the price of those jeans in that young persons shop. It's a great picture and I like how "Vintage" is right next to his kisser.

what an expression! nice capture, could maybe be a bit sharper on him though, but thats just me

Jamey, Fri 12th May, 2006, 11:35am
Yer not wrong. The original was a bit soft due to motion blur (I was a fair distance away, using the 100mm... I'm amazed he even spotted me). This has alsready had some crafty sharpening to make it look presentable. I wouldn't want to make a large print of it.

ah i see, well done then!

I like this. quite a comical feel to it! what with the vintage sign right next to his head. Great capture

I am glad Jim convinced you to post this one because I like it very much, the face of the man is so expressive. It looks sharp enough, how did you get it? just with the PS filter? or did you use a special plugin?

Jamey, Thu 18th May, 2006, 8:44pm
Just normal Unsharp mask.
