First Light

Fanta

Posted on Fri 16th Jun, 2006, 2:32pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/25, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: Wireless, Cropping: None,
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM, Focal length: 10mm,
Captured: 3rd June 2006, 4:35am,

So I was stumbling back to our B&B in Whitby at around half four in the morning and I already had my wireless flash thingy in my hand because I'd been doing that Dracula shot. I saw this tin on a windowsill and thought I'd put the flash down next to it so it was cross-lighting the can and see what it looked like.

Turned out better than I expected.

I think it turned out good too. Good work..

I'm not sure if the can looks a little under-saturated. Better than over-saturated, mind. I think the curtains are flippin' gorgeous.

Angela. Double-post she wrote. Or sort of. The flash works - looks as though it's just catching either the first or last of the light. And the diagonals from the window frame, to the sill and the bricks adds a certain dynamism.

And the reflection adds a certain brooding.

yeah the flash works because its wirless so you it doesnt look like its coming from the camera, just looks like headlights from a car or a street light or something

My colleague Skee, does this same technique with his flash. Check out his stuff at www.skee.shutterchance.com he's been going on about it, the flash technique that is.
