Title:
Not Barnacles

The Wait

Posted on Wed 21st Jun, 2006, 5:49pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 30 Secs, Aperture: f/20,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: Minor,
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC, Focal length: 18mm,
Captured: 3rd June 2006, 2:43pm,

The thing I like most about this is the unsettling feel, which I put down to the long exposure. Only a few people on the beach can be made out and it looks (to me) as if they're looking out to see, waiting for something.

And thanks to Sys for lending me his tripod for this shot, plus a few others I'll be posting up over the coming days.

Oh, and before anyone mentions the two blurred people in the bottom right, I'm beginning to wish I'd cloned them out. I know they detract a bit.

lol. I would have probably tried to clone them out too but this is still a good photo. =)

Absolutly stunning photo, I would print that as a poster and hang it on my wall :) I love it to bits

This reminds me of 19thC seaside painting (the name of which escapes me - I'll need to look it iup) due mainly to the muted greens and browns. Taken with the ND10xxxxx filter I guess. Very smooth sea.

glad you mentioned the two in the bottom right (quick while no one is looking clone them out and delete all knowledge of it ever existing!)... Have you considered getting any ND filters, so you don't have to stop down so much?? I have quite a bit of "sensor dust" show up when I step down that much :(

I think it's good photographically, but overall it's a bit murky for my tastes. Can imagine it on the wall of a chip shop!

I love the brown hues against the blues.. You've gotta love Bex's 'constructive' criticism tho ;-)
