Untitled #18

Posted on Tue 8th Aug, 2006, 5:39pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/320, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: Square,
Lens: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L, Focal length: 35mm,
Captured: 2nd August 2006, 4:06pm,

Snapped for no better reason than because I walk past this scene every day and there isn't usually a guy with a long, white beard clinging onto the railings so it's something a bit out of the ordinary to me.

This certainly isn't the best photo I've ever posted but it is one of the best examples of a photoblog pic (finding something interesting in everyday life) I've got up, IMO.

So this is what he gets up to for the other 364 days of the year. Wine-o bastard. I agree with your comments Jamey, its whaditsallllabout!

Jim - Comments like that are the reason I often think twice before taking pictures of people who might be perceived as being vulnerable. I doubt he'll be checking this website but still... For the people I do chat to, I like them to be able to see their pictures on here without thinking they've been taken advantage of or made fun of. I know you were being light-hearted and this isn't really in direct response to what you said... Just stating it for the future as something to be aware of, I guess.

That guy looks really tired. Nice shot.

Absolutely cracking capture, really portrays loneliness. Very nice processing too.

The "wine-o bastard" was actually directed at Santa Claus, now, I'm guessing neither him or the fella you shot will see it and whilst I take what you're saying... I'm pretty sure that someone who's photo you took without them knowing would be hard pressed to feel anything other than shock at their image appearing on the internet. Either way, sorry.

This is a brilliant shot, so many things he could be doing, resting, praying, thinking, studying something on the ground....awesome image!

Jim - yeah, you're right and I overreacted.

I know what you mean about the blog type image, and I like it. It reminds me of Jonathan half way up a set of steps ;o)

I like the sepia tones, nice work.

I'm still yet to do street portraiture! can't get round it in my head... peoples reactions both in the street and on the net! but I'm sure I'll get around to it one day! I love the toning you've chosen for this, and the contrast is spot on ;) I'm guessing that the vignetting is post processing, but its a nice touch ;)

Nice sepia and Jamey stop trying to take my Crown for throwing a strop on comments ;)
