Driving Force

Posted on Tue 22nd Nov, 2005, 9:22pm

ISO: 400, Shutter speed: 1/30, Aperture: f/2.8,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: None,
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC, Focal length: 50mm,
Captured: 19th November 2005, 4:47pm,

This is another shot from Stratford. And before you say it, I know that big out of focus blob in the bottom right is annoying. With hindsight I would've liked sharp focus throughout but I didn't bother to check properly at the time. You'd think the f/2.8 aperture would've given it away but there you go. I'm stupid.

It's from a car breakers' yard on Carpenters Road. I asked if I could take photos in there and the guys standing outside just kinda ignored me so I wandered in. The foreman did come over and ask what I was doing so I told him and pretended to be arty and he soon let me get on with it. Think he realised he wouldn't get any money out of letting his yard be photographed so lost interest in the subject.

I guess if I wasn't such a lightweight I could go back and do it again with better depth of field but I am a lightweight and I don't want to, so there.

Its a tad busy if im going to pick holes, maybe that creates the image though so not a big hold up - but works well in B&W. Im actually working photographically near and on the Carpenters Road - The whole area is very strange, interesting though.

If you do happen to see a guy wandering with an old double lens medium format, say hello. N.

Looks like the innards of some large mechanical monster.

Junkyards are my favourite places, because you get photos like this! Discarded beauty, well, it is to me...
