Self-Portrait #4

Posted on Mon 26th Feb, 2007, 12:04am

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/100, Aperture: f/22,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: Two, Cropping: 16:9,
Lens: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L, Focal length: 35mm,
Captured: 25th February 2007, 10:31pm,

Ok, so I still haven't had much time to do any photography but I did decide to mess about a bit with the lights this evening and do a self portrait because I wanted to put something up.

The flat's taking ages but I guess that's just the way these things go. It might be a while before I get back to regular (daily) blog posts but in the meantime I will try to put up a few bits and pieces.

Frostytastic. Has a real sense of ice, winter, artic. The killer is the shadow across your eye. Great stuff.

Agree about the frosty feel. It looks like the artwork from an action comic. Ace!

Textured overlay works well here giving it that frosty feel. Great tones and excellent lighting.

This is awesom Jamey. Nices to see that you are well and making progress with the flat. You knw that twinkle in your left eye, was that a fluke, planned or photoshopped? This shot is well worth the wait. I think you should do more of these in future.

What a fabulous picture - do my eyes decieve me or is there a ghosly face with eyes closed to your right - our left? xx

Jamey, Mon 26th Feb, 2007, 10:56am
Jide - the "twinkle" is a flashgun. i set it up behind me to give an outline and due to the difficulties of framing self portraits, it wasn't long before I managed to stand in the wrong place and the flashgun had a direct line of sight into the camera, causing it to star and flare. By sheer fluke, the star was where my left eye was and I really liked it. I tried to do it again (spent about twenty shots trying to get a deliberate version of this) but this accidental version was still the best by far.

DIY is always slow, well at least in our house. I'm not sure about this one as the light sort of reminds me of photoshop lens flare... I do like the sweeping texture on the wall behind you and the fed-up-with-diy-already look though :) Been there done that!

I like this shot, very moody and atmospheric with a very sinister feel. That twinkle is just in the right place. Very Sin City!
