Title:
The Side of a Boat

Location, Location, Location

Posted on Tue 11th Dec, 2007, 10:48pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/40, Aperture: f/2.8,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: Off-camera, Cropping: None,
Lens: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L, Focal length: 35mm,
Captured: 11th November 2007, 5:35pm,

A big thank you to milou for being my lightstand here.

As you've probably guessed this was lit with a flashgun off to the right (I think). The flash also had a green gel over it.

The lighting through that off camera flash is striking. It further enhances the other-worldly feel that's a feature of Dungeness.

Nicely exposed. Well done Jamey (and milou).

I have to say that I hadn't appreciated the effect of off camera flash in near darkness. It has an eerie (and as Simon says other-worldly) feel that's very appropriate to the area. Hope you post up the one with the flash in the boat.

Same principles as ND grads really - balancing two, differently-lit areas of a scene. Not sure about the ones with the light in the boat. haven't decided.

Great night-time flash work. It's really brought out that colour in the mesh.

Excellent, I have a similar shot that didn't come out as well as this though.
