Signal to Noise

Posted on Wed 1st Mar, 2006, 5:41pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: Various, Aperture: f/8,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: Minor,
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC, Focal length: 18mm,
Captured: 28th February 2006, 6:18pm,

This is another attempt at HDR stuff. I quite like this pic but it hasn't turned out how I thought it would.

I took a series of exposures but I ended up just using two of them to get the balance I liked, and even then it still needed the usual photoshop work doing to it.

A lot of HDR photography ends up looking quite surreal and this is no exception. It almost looks like an old Dr Who set, or something. Definitely something very BBC about it.

Interesting. I like the HDR but everyone is doing it now. But this is nice.

Nice Pic Jamey, feels very empty, even though the image is quite busy... It leads your eye around nicely though.

Real sense of solitude about the roof top and a good focal point with the dish. I'm in two minds about the pipe/chimney to the left though - not sure if it distracts - if I cover it, there seems more space for the dish to "look in to".

Yeah, everyone's at it, but Chromasia's getting really good results. It's a hit & miss technique and I suspect we'll all be into something else next week. The theory's great but the practice... Not so great.

Milou - yeah, good point. Didn't even occur to me to crop it. In fact, I went to pains to get it straight but you may well be right.

Nice shot there fingerz - but I think Milou is right about the crop. I think HDR is fun
