Title:
Come on Down

Teerts Portrait

Posted on Fri 21st Apr, 2006, 4:15pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/320, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: 2:1,
Lens: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L, Focal length: 35mm,
Captured: 20th April 2006, 12:34pm,

This came about from me being cowardly. I didn't have the courage to take any face-on candid shots yesterday so I thought it might be worth finding people who had an interesting looking back of the head and seeing what happened.

As you'd expect, most of the shots were rubbish but I quite liked this one. Anyway I had a bit more courage today and have a few people shots where you can actually see their faces to put up tomorrow and next week.

This made me smile, I like the closing down sign in the background as it sort of mirrors his old age. Impeccable dress sense though, the mac is this season's key trend!

Teehee. You big coward. Nice DOF though, makes a nice soft focus background.

Jamey, Fri 21st Apr, 2006, 4:43pm
Heh. You and your key trends.

i like the composition and his green mac gives and whole pic a green feel which is nice

Nice shot, very moody. I think this would've been superb if you could've got a bit of motion blur on the traffic.

Jamey, Fri 21st Apr, 2006, 5:00pm
Matthew - good point. Never even occurred to me.

Very nice shot here! With that being said though, have you tried this with a portrait comp? Just a thought. I do like this one though.

I try to avoid 'tall' aspect ratios wherever possible. It might work, but i like the way the wideness makes it look threatening to cross the road.

I too aint keen on portrait ratio shots, they just don't seem to work for web based photography unless they are smaller pics... I really like this shot, nice feel to it, colouring, DOF, the vignetting are all brilliant :)

I love this one, it has a real unerving(sp?) feel to it. Feels very dark indeed, almost as if they guy is a ghost.

Jamey, Sat 22nd Apr, 2006, 12:42am
I know what you mean, Methy. It's like the start of Ghostbusters where that old woman turns around and she has a skull for a face, or whatever.

Really like this. Agree with methy about it being unnerving. Something doesn't seem right. Excellent!

How marvellous!

I think this is one of the rare pictures that at least for me have a mood. A real feeling they evoke in you...Great shot, Jamie.
