Come on Down

Posted on Sat 22nd Apr, 2006, 1:10pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/320, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: 4:5,
Lens: Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Focal length: 100mm,
Captured: 21st April 2006, 1:46pm,

Apologies for the recent downtime, there was a problem with the server my site's hosted on over the weekend. As such, I'm having to put this entry up again so all comments from the first time round have been lost.

Anyway, this was a mad guy I saw down at Shepherds Bush. He was talking to his hand and shouting a lot. When he spotted me taking photos of him, I thought he'd get mad but he just started looking a little self-concious and wandered off, pausing to look back and shout a bit more.

I've got two more shots of him that I'll post next. This is my least favourite of the three because the processing has ended up looking weirdly HDR, even though this wasn't an HDR shot. The other two are better processing-wise but I liked the way he looks like a gameshow host in this one so I'm posting it too.

Heh. He does look a bit like a gameshow host... "But we don't wanna give you that."

Excellent expression, and beautiful features on his face. Very good work, again.

I was thinking like "Mike" to about the "Game Show Host" look to his stance... or possibly something to do with racing (dogs or horses) because of the slip of paper in his hand... Sorry to hear about the downtime, Great shot, perfect DOF (is it faked?), and love the texture :)

JD - the DOF is all natural but this is quite heavily cropped. It's basically a 4:5 shot that's been cropped from the middle of a 3:2 shot so there was lots around the edges too. But it was distracting. I think this was the best that could be done with the pic, crop-wise.

Nice textures and a good pose. For some reason I feel a bit sorry for him.

Nice processing and detail to the image.. Looks like a man with things on (in?) his mind.

Looks as if he's telling you to fu... Great shot, I love peoples photographs taken that show real expression
