Natural Daylight

Posted on Thu 8th Jun, 2006, 6:11pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/5, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: Wireless, Cropping: Minor,
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM, Focal length: 10mm,
Captured: 3rd June 2006, 4:29am,

Well I set myself the target of getting a shot of a fisherman snapping his braces while we were in Whitby. I didn't manage it but this is sort of a stand-in because of the time it was taken.

When we finished up on the beach at about 4:30am, everyone else went back to get some sleep and I stayed out, because I'd seen the fishermen bringing in their catches and thought I might be able to get a portrait. I couldn't, however, because there was a fence up, plus they were all quite busy and none of them had the requisite long white beard anyway.

What I did get is the shot you see above. The model of Dracula is in the front window of the Dracula Experience place that faces onto the harbour and the sunrise is reflected in the glass.

Was that the "Dracula" place selling all the alien versus predator toys? Nice shot btw :)

Jamey, Thu 8th Jun, 2006, 10:13pm

Sonic's looking a bit worse for wear.. It's a good shot - personally I like the colouring; all nice muted brown, almost sepia (or sepiastic if such a word exists :D)

Who needs fishermen??? those sort of portrait shots crop up everywhere (tho I can still see the appeal to capture one, all that grime and textures from rough weathered skin and full lushes beards). But what you have here is that is much more unique and quite brilliant. well done

I didn't realise you stayed out on your own, you goon! You could have got bitten by Dracula himself! He loves big hairy sideburns. Fang-tastic!

Jamey, Fri 9th Jun, 2006, 2:38pm
Flection's a great word. I'm gonna use it from now on. Cheers Jide.
