Title:
Cash On The Spot

Untitled #20

Posted on Thu 10th Aug, 2006, 5:36pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/30, Aperture: f/2.8,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: Minor,
Lens: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L, Focal length: 35mm,
Captured: 29th May 2006, 6:26pm,

My current lack of material has had me digging through the archives and I don't know why I didn't put this up before. I think I just forgot I had it. It was taken the same day we met this guy.

The background is so bright because Bex was in front of a window and the room we were in was quite dark so in order to get decent exposure on her, I had to completely blow out the rest. There was some detail but it was distracting so I removed it but I didn't change a lot - it was almost completely white anyway.

Check through your archives more often =) I like this. Great detail in the hand area. The crop and the white background work really well to me.

Okay jamey, How did you do it?

Jide Alakija, Thu 10th Aug, 2006, 7:05pm
....I'm actually refering to the way you've processed this.

Love the sharp focus of her hand, life size on my monitor.

Jide - the processing was actually pretty simple here. Channel mixer to convert to mono, using lots of the red channel (70%). Then an overall curve to boost the brightness. Selective noise reduction, selective curve on the face to boost brighness (it was quite dark), selective darkening on the ring and then a curve to colour the mono.

Love the composition and the processing. Nice.

Oooh it's me! Love your description J, 'in order to get decent exposure on her'. Glad you all like the ring, it's a very expensive diamond bought by my other boyfriend! ;-)
